Fine artist Haley Elise Hughes explores thoughtful color palettes and sentimental motifs in her paintings, ascribing a deeper meaning to everyday objects rooted in her experience of femininity and interest in still life imagery and folk art. She introduces memory and nostalgia as key players in her narrative works, inviting the viewer to reflect on inherited mythologies and internal dialogues around feminine identity.
Favoring gouache and acrylic paint as her primary mediums, Haley creates imaginative compositions on paper and wood panels to share her inner world.
After receiving a B.A. in Studio Art and a B.A. in French from Furman University in 2017, Haley now works from her home studio in Asheville, North Carolina.
